Jodeci, the Grand Poobahs of the night, put on an awesome show. Out of the three headliners, Breaking Benjamin seems to get the least appreciation from the crowd, which could be due to everyone getting anxious for NB. Shinedown, on the other hand, are able to get the crowd pumped and maintain that energy throughout their performance, prioritizing entertainment above all else. Sick Puppies, the first headliners, had a challenging set with a lot of screaming that made it difficult to understand the lyrics; toning it down a bit would have been appreciated. Despite going over their allotted time, it didn't bother me as it shortened the next band's set, which was fine.
The first time I was supposed to see Jodeci was in 2007, but I couldn't make it due to a chemistry exam, so I gave the tickets to my sister. The second time was in Vancouver in 2009, where the venue's setup created a very enjoyable ambiance despite the crowd and parking challenges. As a fan club member, my daughter and I were able to enter early, which was a nice perk.
At the Tacoma Dome, the sound quality wasn't as clear as in Vancouver, although the stage setup was fantastic. The extra drum set that emerged from the floor and the main stage setup with Daniel Adair elevated into the air were crowd pleasers. The performance by NB was better in Tacoma than in Vancouver, possibly due to Chad Kroeger's sore throat during the Vancouver show. The lighting at the concert was my only complaint, as it made it difficult to see the performers' faces.
I remember a guy who worked with the VIP and fan club members at both the Vancouver and Tacoma concerts, asking about our thoughts on the tour. It was unclear what he was looking for, and I would have liked to chat more, but he was called away. Overall, NB's performance was great, with some similarities to the Vancouver show but still entertaining due to their stage presence.
